The Origins of ENIGMA:

ENIGMA was born over a decade ago from the CozyRead Books Club—an online community where mystery lovers gather to discuss their favourite mysteries and share theories about fictional crimes. What started as a simple book club evolved into something deeper when a select group of particularly skilled members began hosting regular mystery nights. During these events, members craft and solve their own fictional mysteries inspired by the books they read. As their puzzles became more intricate, they delved into the art of code-breaking, and advanced puzzle-solving.

Evolution into ENIGMA:

As the group’s skills grew sharper, so did their ambitions. The members who consistently excelled at solving the most complex puzzles naturally formed an inner circle. They began taking on real-world challenges, receiving requests to solve literary and historical mysteries within the broader online community. Realising that their collective abilities went beyond recreational puzzles, this elite group formalised their efforts, establishing ENIGMA—an invitation-only society dedicated to uncovering hidden truths, solving cryptic puzzles, and exploring the forgotten corners of history.

ENIGMA’s Mission:

ENIGMA operates under the principle that no mystery is too small to be worth solving. They believe that the joy of uncovering secrets lies not only in the solution but in the process—the camaraderie, the late-night decoding sessions, and the thrill of piecing together clues over a cup of tea. While ENIGMA’s roots are in the world of mystery fiction, they now take on real-life challenges that require sharp minds, literary expertise, and a shared love for a great mystery.

Connection to Dr Evelyn Moore:

Moore is a renowned cryptographer and university professor with a passion for both cybersecurity and literary puzzles. Her research on cryptographic elements in detective fiction drew the attention of ENIGMA, who discreetly recruited her with a cleverly encoded invitation. Since joining, Evelyn has become a trusted member, combining her expertise in modern cryptography with a love for unravelling historical and literary mysteries. She frequently collaborates with ENIGMA on cases that require both technical precision and creative problem-solving.

Why Dr Moore Needs ENIGMA’s Help at Ravenwood Inn:

When Margaret Harrow reached out to Evelyn with a curious discovery linked to her family’s history, Evelyn’s instincts told her this was no ordinary case. The historical significance of the find, combined with its potential hidden messages, was exactly the kind of challenge ENIGMA was built to solve. Knowing that the clues might require more than just her cryptographic expertise, Evelyn activated ENIGMA’s network—a team uniquely suited to decode complex puzzles and unravel secrets buried in time.
